I am so excited to share these new custom pieces for a wedding with you!
I was recently asked to make chalkboards for a wedding. Each chalkboard was hand-drawn by Yours Truly. I am quite pleased with how these have turned out!
These were a joy to make and are something that I look forward to making for other happy couples in the future. Please enjoy this lovely piece featuring a quote from Julia Child. I really love this quote AND how this piece came out.
I also really liked how the Bar Menu board came out. This is something that can be easily customized for different venues and …well, menus! The wedding reception was held at the BEAUTIFUL Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, MI. One of my favorite places in the city!
I also really liked how the Menu board came out. I had a lot of fun experimenting with different fonts for this board. The menu is something that can be easily customized for different venues and …well, menus!
Detail shot of the Julia Child quote. I am so pleased that the bride and groom chose such a lovely quote to write for them. They said they may even hang this piece in their kitchen!
With the extra hour today, I made this cute little illustration. Lovely little typography sketch.
Summer is in full swing and so are some new tote bags in my Etsy Shop! I’m loving these cute little unicorn bags. Each print is hand-pulled by Yours Truly. Available in pink and blue for now, but more colors are coming soon!
Front and back designs
Just listed in my Etsy Shop! Gift Sets of my most popular Greeting Card designs!
A great way to celebrate a birthday!
What a fun way to stock up on unique, handmade greeting cards! Each card set comes in a clear acrylic box. Cards come with coordinating envelopes.
Mix or Match.
I am excited for the trend that a few restaurants and businesses have been following, where designs are hand-painted directly on their walls. While this is nothing new, it is refreshing to see many businesses putting value in the skill of traditional sign painting.
I created this piece today as an exercise/sketch for a restaurant/bar. I tried to come up with a fun, bold saying that would look nice in the small dining area around a larger bar setup. I used bold, yet legible typography that highlights some of their specialties, and a fun custom tongue-in-cheek phrase.
Made to look hand-painted. Digital paint using photoshop and illustrator.
What do you think? Would you want to see a similar style of artwork in your neighborhood bar or burger shack?
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo this year with a fun new postcard design! This is part of a new set of postcards I recently made available in my Etsy Shop! Cards are glossy on the front and matte on the back for easy writing. Just add postage and drop in the mail…they also make fun artwork for your home or office…and fit perfectly in a 4x6inch frame.
Hello Friday!
Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? I hope to go to the park and sketch in the sunshine for a while. I started out the day with a delicious iced coffee (with whipped cream and sprinkles, of course) AND an illustration.
Today will be a good day, indeed.
This typographic illustration was hand lettered with pen and ink. I used Copic Markers, Prismacolors, gold Sharpie, and chalk markers.
Happy Friday! And a warm welcome to my newest postcard design! This is part of a new set of postcards I recently made available in my Etsy Shop! Cards are glossy on the front and matte on the back for easy writing. Just add postage and drop in the mail…they also make fun artwork for your home or office…and fit perfectly in a 4x6inch frame.
I was recently asked to make a Chalkboard A-Frame for our Kosher for Passover meat products. The butcher shop has undergone a big re-branding lately, and we wanted to bring attention to these special holiday products.
I was inspired by old-fashioned butcher shop signage.
The A-Frames we use measure 2 x 3 feet. They are sturdy, durable, and reusable. I generally use mostly white chalk and white chalk pens to do the lettering and, depending on the board, add additional colors to highlight aspects of the design.
I had fun making this sign! This back side is simple foam core!
For this sign, I made a back that was inspired by the price flags and old-timey window signs from neighborhood markets. This highlights the prices (literally) making it easy for customers to compare the price-per-pound for the different cuts of meats.
