Merry Christmas, everyone!

christmas_illust1

I was so fortunate to be able to surprise my family by driving to see them! Work let me swap a few of my days off this week and take an extra day to travel through to surprise them!

My parents were none-too-happy that I was ignoring their Christmas calls (while I was simultaneously driving through Canada to see them!). My little brother and I had a good laugh, though. He knew I was coming, but kept it a secret.

I hope that you are able to spend time with your family, friends, and loved ones. Today  quick lettering sketch, then back to spending time with family. Happy holidays!

Reindeer Games

The holidays are fast approaching! (Can you believe it is already December?!) And Christmas music has been on the airwaves for weeks now.

I’ve been decorating the store (and my apartment) with all manner of cute woodland creatures and snow people.

This little Reindeer was drawn using my trusty Copic markers and pens, Papermate Flair pen, Sharpies, and Prismacolor. A little bit of chalk marker was used for some of the white highlights. I plan on drawing these much larger and reproducing them for decorations around the store. Stay tuned!

Tattoo You: Nerdy Tattoo Designs Part 3

If there’s one thing I love it’s video games! If there’s two things I love it’s nautical tattoo designs and video games. I’m always thinking of fun tattoo ideas that would not only look nice as a piece of body artwork, but could be framed and hung on a wall.

I made a series of fun, clean, nerdy Tattoo Illustrations that I will be showcasing in the next few posts. Each illustration was made by hand using pen and paper, and a variety of markers including Prismacolor, Copic, Sharpie, and others.

In a previous post, I showed you Pokemon-inspired illustration. Now, on to a design inspired by the game that I spent countless hours mastering as a youngster: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Time waits for no man

In Progress. Loving how this one is turning out.

This illustration is inspired by classic nautical tattoos. The ribbon and phrasing are similar to the Sailor Jerry style. The imagery is taken from the game itself. A fun play on the theme of the game, where time truly waits for no man. A tattoo worthy of the hero of time!

Time waits for no manThe fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends upon thee!

In a previous post, I showed you a pokemon-inspired illustration. Here is another…a personal favorite. I always picked Charmander for my starter pokemon (My sister chose Squirtle, and my brother was a fan of Pokemon Yellow when it came out). That fire salamander holds a place in my heart, so I decided to feature Charizard in this Nautical-Tattoo-Inspired illustration.

In progress: adding detail to the scales.

This illustration was inspired by epic Japanese-Style Dragon tattoos. I embellished the design of Charizard with scales and more dragon-like features. The iconic flame on his tail is further stylized. The banner can be left blank, or could be filled with an important date or phrase.

The roses contain the starter pokemon pokeballs. They could make a lovely tattoo on their own.

The finished illustration (unframed) is available in my Etsy Shop. You can purchase prints in various sizes too!

The first illustration was inspired by classical MERMAID tattoos. The subject of this piece is my favorite Eevee evolution: Vaporeon. I thought she would make a fine mermaid. Perhaps one of the sailors in Vermillion City would sport this one?

Busy Number People

Number People

Busy Number People, original illustrations.

Welcome to my newest project: Busy Number People! I illustrated these little guys over the summer and introduced them at the Renegade Craft Fair in the form of adorable little notebooks and prints! They really lend themselves to the printed world and I look forward to moving forward with this concept in the near future.

I have plans to make them in to their own story book and give them their own little lives. Stay tuned for more about these little Number People! And, of course, Little Letter People?

New Unicorn Postcard Colors

One of my most popular postcard designs has gotten an upgrade!

unicorn postcards

I love the pink and white unicorn, but I felt a it needed a friend in complimentary colors. Unicorns aren’t all the same color anyways. Both designs are made from original pen and ink illustration and digitally colored. They are printed in the USA and are available in my Etsy shop, Pink Toe Press as separate and joint postcard packs! They are also available at Rocket Fizz Burbank. You can send them in the mail like a regular postcard (just add a stamp!) or they fit nicely in a frame or envelope.
