You Rebel, You

New colors have been added to my “Rebel Rebel” Greeting Cards in my Etsy Shop! My popular hand-cut cards inspired by David Bowie’s song “Rebel Rebel” now come in a variety of colors including Blue, Orange, Red, and Pink, with more colors to come soon (and others available upon request)! The Blue card and pink card are featured in this photograph. It’s a great card to give to a loved one, a friend, or a true Bowie fan! Each card is hand-cut and lovely enough to display after you’ve sent it to the recipient (or kept it for yourself!).

Valentines Day

Pop-Up Valentine’s Day Heart Cards

Usually I am not someone who makes something that is for a specific holiday or event… I do make exceptions, though. I think that these handmade pop-up cards would make lovely valentines. Inspired by computer graphics, 8-bit video games, and the fun I always had with pop-up books and cards, these little cards are a refreshing change from mass-produced, store-bought cards.

I’ve always liked pop-up cards and have had an interest in making them ever since (years ago) my friend Katie had a birthday party and her mother (an artist and art teacher) taught us how to make very simple pop-ups. As someone who has a collection of pop-up books, a knack for origami and paper-crafting, and a love of pixel art, you’d think I would have gotten around to making these sooner.

Each envelope is filled with (handmade) confetti. A nice touch.

I hand cut each card from paper and carefully folded each one, each card also has a handmade envelope. I think these would make lovely cards any time of the year (not just on Valentine’s Day). They’d be a great card for the gamer or computer whiz in your life.  *I’m working on other pop-up designs… I’ll keep you posted!

Terrarium

I noticed that this little guy was shown in one of my earlier posts, but I hadn’t shared him with y’all yet. So here you go!

This is Terrarium that I made not too long ago. It is made with eco-Felt, wool felt balls, embroidery thread, ribbon, cotton gingham, and some acrylic paint. The jar is a recycled/up-cycled jar with tiny handles on the sides. It’s a really lovely piece that is actually for sale at the Handmade Galleries in LA.  This is one of my favorite terrariums to date. It’s nice and big and is quite lovely. Each flower (felt ball) is hand embroidered with painstaking detail and is nestled amongst leaves of grass. There are three unique flowers inside the terrarium as well as one small flower on the outside of the terrarium (on the bow). Green grass is even painted on the bottom of the jar to give it even more dimension.
