Happy Holidays

A fun Holiday card for Holiday season 2012.

I designed these cards for the holidays. They are inspired by a phrase my mom says around the holidays: “Merry Merry, Happy Happy!”

I love the big bold type!

I had originally made them to be postcards, but I also printed them at business card size and they are really nice on presents! With a punch in the corner and some festive baker’s twine, they look lovely on gift bags and gift boxes. I’ve used them for gift tags this holiday season, writing names and gift information on the back… I’ll be putting them on my Etsy shop soon.

So Fresh Birthday or Everyday Card

This card is so fresh! Whether you love veggies and fruits, or are just looking for a fun, unique card to give to that someone special, I think you’ll love this card. I feel like this card would be better left blank with space for you to write your own message on the inside. That way it could be a card for any occasion, but I think that it could make a great birthday card for a young’un

Each little veggie was hand drawn by yours truly and they are some of my favorites. I thought this could be a fun card, maybe even a wrapping paper or napkin set? The possibilities are endless, really.

Can you guess what each fruit or veggie is?

Get Well Soon

Do you know someone who is sick? I find it so hard to find the “right” card for someone who isn’t feeling well. Whether they have the common cold, surgery, or something more serious, it’s hard to find a card that can speak to the recipient without being too sarcastic or overly dramatic. I designed this card to be simple, elegant, and tasteful. No matter what your friend or loved one is suffering from, this card is sure to brighten their day.

Retro Happy Birthday Card

Nothing says summer like a trip to the  fair or, if you’re near the beach, visiting the pier. I especially like taking a ride on the Ferris Wheel. Living in Los Angeles, I like visiting Santa Monica to see the pier; taking a shot at the arcades, riding the roller coaster, then taking a spin on the Ferris Wheel, looking out onto the beach. As fun as the other rides  are, the Ferris Wheel is my favorite; you get a great view of the ocean and the city.

The photograph on this card was taken on a recent visit to the pier, and I think it makes a splendid card. The colors are fantastic.

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo! ¡Felíz Cinco de Mayo!

I designed this to be a “Get Well” card for children, but as they’re piñatas, you could even use this for Post-Cinco-De-Mayo “get well cards”, I suppose. Please take care and be responsible if you choose to party. I know I’ll be laying low and having some chips and guacamole when I get off of work tonight. I wish we had gotten tickets to see Lucha Vavoom again this year.

Valentines Day

Pop-Up Valentine’s Day Heart Cards

Usually I am not someone who makes something that is for a specific holiday or event… I do make exceptions, though. I think that these handmade pop-up cards would make lovely valentines. Inspired by computer graphics, 8-bit video games, and the fun I always had with pop-up books and cards, these little cards are a refreshing change from mass-produced, store-bought cards.

Tell someone “I <3 U” with one of these fun cards!

I’ve always liked pop-up cards and have had an interest in making them ever since (years ago) my friend Katie had a birthday party and her mother (an artist and art teacher) taught us how to make very simple pop-ups. As someone who has a collection of pop-up books, a knack for origami and paper-crafting, and a love of pixel art, you’d think I would have gotten around to making these sooner.

Each envelope is filled with (handmade) confetti. A nice touch.

I hand cut each card from paper and carefully folded each one, each card also has a handmade envelope. I think these would make lovely cards any time of the year (not just on Valentine’s Day). They’d be a great card for the gamer or computer whiz in your life.  *I’m working on other pop-up designs… I’ll keep you posted!
