I’m sure you know by now…but I sure do like unicorns!
A while back I shared some photos of a new item in my Etsy Shop… my Unicorn Tote Bags in Blue and Pink. Now they’re available in gold AND with a different color variation: Gold unicorn with white mane and White unicorn with gold mane.
This is one of my new favorite items… and definitely a favorite color-way.

The holidays are fast approaching! (Can you believe it is already December?!) And Christmas music has been on the airwaves for weeks now.
I’ve been decorating the store (and my apartment) with all manner of cute woodland creatures and snow people.
This little Reindeer was drawn using my trusty Copic markers and pens, Papermate Flair pen, Sharpies, and Prismacolor. A little bit of chalk marker was used for some of the white highlights. I plan on drawing these much larger and reproducing them for decorations around the store. Stay tuned!

While they are intended for pens and pencils, you can use them to organize all sorts of things. They are a great little bag for your phone cords and accessories too! I had a customer rave about them as a glasses case!
They come in many patterns and color variations. Check out this Etsy listing to pick your favorite! Each bag is fully lined inside and has a durable polyester zipper. Linings coordinate with the exterior of the bag.

I’m not sure if you remember, but we have pet hermit crabs! They are a surprisingly fun little pet. They are relatively easy to take care for and get along well with other crabs (for the most part). Sometimes they will fight with each other over shells, but otherwise they get along together well!
This drawing was made with pen and ink, Prismacolor and Copic Markers, and chalk markers for the opaque white.
We recently went out and purchased a pet Hermit Crab. I always thought that the logical progression of pets went from fish to cats, cats to dogs. In our case, it went from cats to Hermit Crabs.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about them. My boyfriend bought them on a whim (he had them as a kid). But I’ve warmed up to the little crustaceans; they sure are funny.

We currently have 2 hermit crabs. We bought one a few weeks before getting this second crab (shown). Despite their name, they are very social creatures. The two seem to be getting along well. Shy at first, they have warmed up to us a bit. I am sure there will be more posts about hermit crabs in the very near future.
Today is the day we celebrate our Earth and try to make it a better place for ourselves and for future generations.
While I may not be the person with the smallest ecological footprint, I do take steps to minimize my impact whenever possible. As an artist, I try my best to find paints and inks that are nontoxic and papers that are made from recycled materials. I recycle shipping materials like tissue paper and packing bubbles and reuse them in outgoing packages. I am a hoarder of fabric scraps and I’ve even got a project in the works that makes use of many of them! The list goes on…
I also recently made a wonderful hand-painted chalkboard globe. It is painted with nontoxic chalkboard paints (THANK YOU Martha Stewart!) and was created with love and extreme care). Each landmass was carefully painted with layers and layers of paint. The oceans were given the same amount of TLC. I did find out, however, that the black paint takes more coats than the blue paint to cover evenly. Who knew!
While it looks lovely on my bookshelf, It would look even better in a children’s room. It is the perfect addition to a nursery or a bedroom for a child of any age. As it is made with chalkboard paint, you can write on the globe. It is perfect for children learning the continents. Practice the names right on the globe.
The globes are also PERFECT for weddings. Use a permanent gold, white, or silver paint marker to write a personal message to the bride or groom. Customizable messages are also available.
