Tattoo You: Nerdy Tattoo Designs Part 3

If there’s one thing I love it’s video games! If there’s two things I love it’s nautical tattoo designs and video games. I’m always thinking of fun tattoo ideas that would not only look nice as a piece of body artwork, but could be framed and hung on a wall.

I made a series of fun, clean, nerdy Tattoo Illustrations that I will be showcasing in the next few posts. Each illustration was made by hand using pen and paper, and a variety of markers including Prismacolor, Copic, Sharpie, and others.

In a previous post, I showed you Pokemon-inspired illustration. Now, on to a design inspired by the game that I spent countless hours mastering as a youngster: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Time waits for no man

In Progress. Loving how this one is turning out.

This illustration is inspired by classic nautical tattoos. The ribbon and phrasing are similar to the Sailor Jerry style. The imagery is taken from the game itself. A fun play on the theme of the game, where time truly waits for no man. A tattoo worthy of the hero of time!

Time waits for no manThe fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends upon thee!

In a previous post, I showed you a pokemon-inspired illustration. Here is another…a personal favorite. I always picked Charmander for my starter pokemon (My sister chose Squirtle, and my brother was a fan of Pokemon Yellow when it came out). That fire salamander holds a place in my heart, so I decided to feature Charizard in this Nautical-Tattoo-Inspired illustration.

In progress: adding detail to the scales.

This illustration was inspired by epic Japanese-Style Dragon tattoos. I embellished the design of Charizard with scales and more dragon-like features. The iconic flame on his tail is further stylized. The banner can be left blank, or could be filled with an important date or phrase.

The roses contain the starter pokemon pokeballs. They could make a lovely tattoo on their own.

The finished illustration (unframed) is available in my Etsy Shop. You can purchase prints in various sizes too!

Happy Halloween!

I spent the better part of this month talking about my Hylian Shield Tutorial. Now is your chance to see the shield in action! Presenting my HALLOWEEN COSTUME 2014: Link the Hero of Time! I spent a lot of time making the shield and sword look accurate. I also spent quite a bit of time on the costume itself. I included some details that you may not even see… I wore a locket around my neck with a Piece of Heart and a tiny Potion Bottle, had the Small Key and Dungeon Key, and I even had the boring-old compass! Here are some fun photos of my ADVENTURES AS LINK:
