Welcoming an Outta This World NEW Project

Happy Saturday! Here is a sneak peek of new items from Pink Toe Press! These cute little hair bows are made from my (obsessive) collection of fabrics. Many fabrics are hard to find, vintage, or out-of-print.

These bows are made with Retro-Styled Space Kid fabric. I love the bright, bold colors and the lovely sky blue background. These would pair well with a summery dress in blues or reds.

They are hand sewn and folded. Each bow has an alligator clip on the back, but I am happy to customize with French Clips or even a pin. If you order them from my Etsy Shop, you can choose the backing that is right for you!

Great for little ones and adults. They’re bound to turn heads!

Happy Earth Day

Today is the day we celebrate our Earth and try to make it a better place for ourselves and for future generations.

Hand Painted Chalkboard Globe

While I may not be the person with the smallest ecological footprint, I do take steps to minimize my impact whenever possible. As an artist, I try my best to find paints and inks that are nontoxic and papers that are made from recycled materials. I recycle shipping materials like tissue paper and packing bubbles and reuse them in outgoing packages. I am a hoarder of fabric scraps and I’ve even got a project in the works that makes use of many of them! The list goes on…

Hand Painted Chalkboard Globe

I also recently made a wonderful hand-painted chalkboard globe. It is painted with nontoxic chalkboard paints (THANK YOU Martha Stewart!) and was created with  love and extreme care). Each landmass was carefully painted with layers and layers of paint. The oceans were given the same amount of TLC. I did find out, however, that the black paint takes more coats than the blue paint to cover evenly. Who knew!

While it looks lovely on my bookshelf, It would look even better in a children’s room. It is the perfect addition to a nursery or a bedroom for a child of any age. As it is made with chalkboard paint, you can write on the globe. It is perfect for children learning the continents. Practice the names right on the globe.

Hand Painted Chalkboard Globe

The globes are also PERFECT for weddings. Use a permanent gold, white, or silver paint marker to write a personal message to the bride or groom. Customizable messages are also available.

More colors and more designs are soon to come to Pink Toe Press!

A Healthy Glow

The other day I mentioned that I picked up some new inks for my screen printing press that GLOW IN THE DARK. I was finally able to use them yesterday afternoon. I am so pleased with how they turned out…

Glow-in-the-dark Tote BagThe color really TEALS the deal for me…

I absolutely love the teal color. I was a little nervous that the inks would be difficult to clean out of my screen (they weren’t!) and that they would be too transparent like my other glow-in-the-dark ink. Fortunately, they were not too transparent on a light-colored fabric. I did try making a print on some darker-colored fabrics and it was difficult to see the design. I will need to put a layer of white ink down if I want to print on darker fabrics.

I am sure you are wondering whether or not the ink actually glows too… IT DOES! Here are some photos I snapped with my camera. Unfortunately my camera did not take the best photos in the dark, but you can totally see the glowing. The actual glow was brighter than this. Too cool!

I think these bags turned out great! And this glow was after a very short charge under a lamp. I think they are a cool bag for kids. (Or adults!)

Of course, they are available in the Pink Toe Press Etsy Shop.

New Screen Printing Ink

I always love going to brick-and-mortar locally owned art supply stores. I stopped by Hyatt’s in Clarence yesterday and picked up a few goodies. (Yes, I did this instead of watching the Super Bowl) The thing I am most excited about is the new ink for my screen printing press. It’s a teal GLOW-IN THE-DARK ink. I have a glow-in-the-dark ink that is an almost-clear overlay ink, I really like it, but it is very transparent and doesn’t work well on certain fabrics. I mostly use that ink for painting on paper, to be very honest. I was so excited to get  this one because it is a beautiful teal color AND it glows in the dark. I can’t wait to use this!!!

Sage Advice for Greeting Cards

“To write is human, to receive a letter: Devine!”
Susan Lendroth

Send someone an any-time letter with these greeting cards that I designed for Pink Toe Press. They are good for pet-lovers, or just people who need a little bit of good advice. They are blank on the inside and come with their own envelope. They are also available as larger prints.

For dog lovers

As I write with a cat curled up on my lap, It amazes me the pure love that an animal has for its owner. These cards were designed to inspire you to reach the potential that your pet knows you have, but that you may not know you have.
